Product Development Engineer - Glasgow/Aberdeen (Ref: 1363)

We are recruiting for an experienced Product Development Engineer to deal with the Day-to-day technical development, enabling delivery of specific products.

This role will involve the development, design, coordination and management of engineering expertise and engineering solutions, to deliver success products.

Alignment of applicable standards, as well as schedule and budgets, to ensure successful delivery of products.

Essential Experience, Qualifications and Competencies

• Degree in an engineering / technical discipline
• Experience in B2B technical Product Development
• Relevant, previous experience of technical B2B product delivery management
• The ability to review contracts and highlight commercial risk
• Direct management of technical risks, budgets, schedules and resources
• Experience in the management of customer, supplier and end-user expectations
• MS Excel, Word, Project and PPT
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Good organisational and administration skills
• Ability to maintain a professional and focused approach at all times, in particular, in customer facing situations
• Keen and effective attention to detail
• Excellent team management.

Desirable Experience, Qualifications and Competencies

• Project Management / Engineering experience
• Membership of a relevant technical body
• Experience in market and business development.
• Development of Product Management Process and Procedures.
• Experience in the energy sector
• Knowledge of materials and processes used within Offshore/Onshore oil and gas, marine and energy sectors.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Leadership of product engineering through the NPD process
• Support the development and use of the NPD process
• Engage actively to improve product development and technical delivery efficiency
• Develop and design optimal solutions to technical challenges, working closely with the Engineering team.
• Within technical management, ensure budgets are managed and maintained, specifications are adhered to, quality, safety and environmental standards are maintained
• Lead engineering optimisation
• Adhere to NPD Gates, supporting product through these Gates
• Support team to coordinate product delivery and all technical resources associated with successful delivery
• Support education and leadership on product engineering methodologies and best practice
• Stakeholder engagement and buy-in
• Supplier management
• Report effectively and communicate risks and challenges, pro-actively seeking solutions.
